14 Four Cafe on a Saturday afternoon.

While surfing channels over the television, trying to find a good worth TV program, i stopped by ETC's HQ hosted by Kim Jones. At the time, they were flashing a few clips of some place i thought was nice aside from i thought the host was very pleasant. The show was then featuring 14 Four Cafe, which we we're only able to visit this past June 22. 

Location:

144 Magnolia Lane, 

Barangay San Isidro, Gregoria Heights Subdivision, 

Taytay, Rizal, Philippines 1920. 

We didn't know how to get there so what we did was rent a cab, talked to the taxi driver for directions and decided to be dropped off in Ortigas Avenue. From there, we took the jeepney "biyaheng Taytay" and decided to alight at Cainta Junction. And so it was a mistake we did because we we're supposed to get off the jeep at E. Rodriguez St., near Sienna College. Lucky enough, we were helped by a gas station girl and a Sienna College service driver, who gave us a free hitch until E. Rodriguez St. Yeah, they say the best things in life are free :D Thank you! 

The story above is called "The Wrong Turn." The right thing to do is actually just ride a jeepney biyaheng TayTay or Antipolo from EDSA Crossing and never jerk off the jeep until E. Rodriguez St. or more commonly known as Tropical Hut. After passing by Cainta Junction, you'll notice some major landmarks (look at your right side) like Petron gasoline station, BPI, and Shakey's --this is the nearest landmark and no more than half kilometer away from the entry point of E.Rod street. Take a tricycle from the Trike station to 14 Four Cafe. Don't forget to mention to the driver that you're destination is 144 Magnolia Lane GREGORIA HEIGHTS SUBD- we had another mistake with this by just saying Magnolia St. San Isidro. The Food:

The food in 14 Four can pass the 50 over 100 score though I'd like to think that it is not the food they specialize in. If you're a food enthusiast, at least you can still try out a few from the menu. :) We've also captured the full menu and the prices, which you can actually find on their website too. 

       The Menu

We tried the following:

Adobo Rice: garlic, tomatoes, fried egg - 190php

carafe of kalamansi iced tea - 170php

Country Fried Chicken: creamy mashed potatoes, rosemary gravy, country biscuit - 250php

Aligue & Tuyo: creamy aligue sauce, tuyo flakes, hint of citrus - 230php

Brownie Ala Mode for dessert

Please note though that they actually don't have desserts in their menu so they do it the "Dessert Of The Day" way. There are three available that day but we opted for their Brownie Ala Mode (see image above).

The Place:

I actually thought it was a nice place for reading. It  was very relaxed and quiet. On the other hand, it was entertaining too due to the remarkable artwork around. There's also a showroom of furniture upstairs, which you can check while waiting for your food to be served. 

                                                                                                                             


When the city turns into a monster, you can still retreat somewhere peaceful that's within your reach! This may also be a way of delight to one's busy self.

Trike to 144: 20/pax (we got lost because we just told him "Magnolia St. San Isidro") so we paid extra for Manong driver's effort)
